Brazilian jiu jitsu: gi classes

A BJJ gi is a tough outfit worn by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. It has three parts: a jacket, pants, and belt that indicates level of experience. Essential for serious practitioners.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in the gi allows for a greater emphasis on technique due to the increased level of control and grip that the fabric provides. This leads to a more technical and strategic style of grappling.

Additionally, training in the gi fosters a sense of tradition and lineage within the art of BJJ. Many of the techniques and concepts taught have been passed down through generations and are often demonstrated in the context of gi training.

STEALTH BJJ CHESHIRE OFFERS GI CLASSES FOR ALL AGES AND EXPERIENCE LEVELS.

FAQ about
bjj gi training

No, you do not need a gi to get started at Stealth BJJ Cheshire. The gym provides loan gis for beginners which will enable you to train even if you do not have your own. Additionally, the gym has a partnership with Progress Jiu Jitsu, and they offer discounted orders on a range of high-quality gis for all levels. This partnership ensures that all students have access to suitable attire for their training. Therefore, whether you are a beginner or an experienced pro, you will have the necessary gear to learn and improve upon your jiu jitsu skills. It is important to ensure that you have the right equipment to make your training successful, and with the partnership with Progress Jiu Jitsu, purchasing a gi will be a hassle-free process.

Absolutely not.

You are welcome to wear any BJJ gi here, regardless of brand, colour or affiliation.

Although not mandatory and you are under no pressure whatsoever to do so – Progress Jiu Jitsu offers an official Stealth BJJ gi which you can purchace through the club at a discounted rate and we do occasionally produce club patches which you are welcome to put on your own gi.

Care for your gi by referring to the care label for specific instructions. Avoid hot water or dryer, pre-treat stains, and air dry it. Do not use bleach or fabric softener and ensure it’s completely dry before storage. Keep your gi in good condition by taking care of it regularly after every training session.

Which style is harder depends on individual circumstances and preferences – each form has its own distinct styles with unique challenges. Gi jiu-jitsu uses a uniform for grip, which can lend itself to a more technical and strategic approach.
